This course outlines the basics of oud playing. It will start with an organological overview of the instrument's history, demonstrating fundamental techniques such as manipulating the oud, positioning the right and left hands, holding the plectrum, identifying strings, arranging them in relation to each other, determining their elevation, and finger placement. To enhance progress tracking following the Pactolus, the course also includes an introduction to music notation (music theory) and reading, as well as maqam and sollam.
